SCHOOL FEES FOR 2012

We would like to thank all parents who attended the Governing Body Annual General Meeting on 9 November 2011.  The support this year was very good and there was lively debate concerning the various matters discussed.  We hereby inform all parents of the resolutions that were passed by the parents present, in accordance with the South African School’s Act.  Please remember that the A.G.M. is your opportunity as a parent to support or question proposals regarding the financial governance of the school.

The parents voted unanimously for the following school fee structure for 2012:

R9570.00 per annum or R 870.00 over 11 months paid in equal monthly instalments from 1 January – 1 November 2012.  A discount of 15% (or R 1436) per learner will be granted to parents paying in full before 31 December 2011.  Parents paying in full before 31 January 2012 will receive a 10% (R 957) discount.  This discount structure was not the one proposed by the Governing Body and parents need to take note that a lower discount figure was budgeted for.

School fees may be paid as follows:

Debit Order:

This is the preferred method of payment whereby the school initiates the payment from your bank account upon completion of a Debit Order Authorisation (obtained from the office).  Debit orders run from February to December due to administration considerations.  Parents are given a monthly rebate of R 10.00 if they pay by debit order.  Therefore school fees will be R 860.00 per month for parents on Debit Order.

PLEASE NOTE THAT DEBIT ORDERS ARE AUTOMATICALLY ADJUSTED EACH YEAR AND CONTINUE FROM YEAR TO YEAR.  PLEASE ADVISE THE OFFICE IF YOU DECIDE TO PAY YOUR SCHOOL FEES IN FULL SO THAT WE DO NOT DEDUCT THE DEBIT ORDER FROM YOUR ACCOUNT.

Internet Payments & Cash Payments into the School’s Bank Account:

Payments may be made into the Arbor Primary School bank account.  The bank details are:

ABSA

BRANCH:   Tom Jones Street

ACCOUNT NO:  9076030121

BRANCH CODE: 632005

All payments must have your account number (as it appears on your School Fees Statement) or your child’s name as a reference.  The cash deposit fee attracted by cash payments into this account will be charged to your School Fees account. Internet payments do not attract a fee.

EasyPay

You can now pay your school fees when you do your shopping at Pick n Pay or Checkers.  Please use the EasyPay reference number on the bottom of your School Fees statement when paying through EasyPay.  You can also pay school fees through the EasyPay Internet site www.easypay.co.za.

Cash & Cheque Deposits at the School Counter

You may pay school fees at the counter by cash or cheque, but we do not encourage this method of payment due to high bank charges associated with cash deposits and the risk factor to our staff and learners.  If you send money to school with your child – this money must be placed in a sealed envelope with the child’s name, class and amount clearly stated on the envelope.  THE SCHOOL WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MONEY THAT GOES ASTRAY PAID IN BY THIS METHOD.  All cash deposits will attract a cash deposit fee to be paid by the parent.

Parents who attended the meeting were informed of our achievements this year.  There have been many accolades received in educational, sporting and cultural activities.  We would like to remind parents of the following:

Arbor Primary is a Section 21 school in terms of the South African School’s Act. Therefore, school fees are compulsory.  The Act stipulates that biological parents or legal guardians, regardless of their marital status, are liable for school fees. Parents may apply in writing for an exemption from payment of school fees. The exemption is based on affordability and is calculated using the formula determined by the Department of Education.  Parents who feel that they qualify for an exemption are to contact the office as soon as possible in the New Year.

The parents who attended the A.G.M. will know that our budget for 2012 is in excess of

R9 000 000.00.  The salaries for next year are expected to total R4 800 000.00. The Gauteng Department of Education will give us approximately R414 000.00.   To those who have not yet paid school fees for 2011, please do so as soon as possible or face legal action.  We have obtained Default Judgement against several parents this year and will continue to act swiftly against those who won’t pay school fees.

However, the Governing Body and Executive of Arbor Primary School would like to thank all our parents who do support the school, its teachers and pay school fees.  Together, we are preparing your children for their high school careers and laying a strong foundation for their futures.

Thanking you,
